SHAH ALAM: After waiting 30-long years, an estimated 100,000 families in Selangor will receive their land grants this year.
Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim (picture) said the issuance of land grants will be carried out in stages beginning this month. He said the the state aims to complete the exercise by the end of 2010.
He said the exercise had already begun in Kuala Selangor. Some 6,000 families will finally become landowners in due course.
“With this move, we can now have organised development in the areas. Local councils can plan infrastructure and public utilities developments, “ he said.
Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkifili Ahmad said, it had taken the Pakatan Government less than 21 months to streamline and settle these land issues as compared to the previous UMNO-BN government.
‘For the last 30 years, not a single hectare of land came to the people. The leaders and BN cronies grabbed everything. It took the Pakatan less than 21 month to give the rightful owners their land. I am grateful for that,” he said.
