Malaysia Lingkup Tanpa Petronas

updated : These are the facts as 'jibam' claimed in his comment that my facts are lies.

full statement available at HERE

Renung-renungkan!

For those who doubt my facts above, my source of info is one of PETRONAS top boss. it was being told in an internal function last week. Ask anybody in PETRONAS they can clarify!

What about huge waste of money by setting up Prince Court Medical Centre that is continuing to spend millions but losing tapayers money like water????

Once upon a time people question PETRONAS' millions of dollars investment in F1. And now because of that PETRONAS is an internationally recognized brand. It takes more than a simple mind to understand the reasons behind such investments. PETRONAS is a business entity and it would not jump into such investments if it brings no good at all. Food for thought.

What rubbish....Hospital investments like other businesses need close financial oversight....the way Prince Court Hospital has spent the taxpayers money is worrisome and displays the lack of proper propensity and justification in investments. Trying to cloud one's thinking by oversimplification and draw inconclusive comparisons is undobtedly dim witted!!

PETRONAS ONLY using taxpayer money when it was established over 30 year ago, that is 10 million .Right now PETRONAS have contributed more that 400 Billion Ringgit. So please use fact and not your emotion when giving comment.g

Dear Anonymous

i think you don't understand how to differentiate between tax pater's money and PETRONAS money.

30 years ago PETRONAS started with RM10 million tax payers money which might be 100% shares owned by the governement. Now PETRONAS has more than 100 subsidiaries worldwide and some are jointventures which does not involve the Malaysian governement at all. From the total of current PETRONAS Assets, the government does not owned it all anymore. Since there are subsidiaries that is public listed, there Joint ventures that are 64% owned by PETRONAS and remaining by foreign investors, so PETRONAS no longer a 100% government owned company.

PETRONAS also pays taxes to the goverment like any other companies operating in Malaysia. So, I would like to stress that Prince COurt Mendical Center (PCMC) was not founded using the tax payer's money. PETRONAS did not even ask for a single sen from the government to start PCMC. It was started using PETRONAS fund and it might be from the yearly allocated rolling capital (the 21% mentioned in the article).

The purpose of PCMC is to bring in latest medical technology to Malaysia as the government and other private hospital could not afford to do so.It is a JV between PETRONAS and an International MEdical University.

I am also a tax payer but I do understand that companies don't ask money from government to expand (excluding the politically UMNO cronies companies), PETRONAS managed to be what it is today becuase Tan Sri Dato Seri Hasssan Merican managed to block any political intefierance into PETRONAS. Hopefully he can continue to serve PETRONAS.

I have to agree with Anonymous statements...Petronas is fundamentally the peoples concern, perhaps not directly taxpayers money but directly the wealth of the nation.

The JV for PCMC failed initially with an Indian group and later with a foreign University. If what you say is true (and I know this is not TRUE as a fact) that this PCMC was due to bring healthcare to people in general not the 20 - 30 well heeled patients a day and surprising Petronas employees???!!!Very intelligent business model lah!! Are we being screwed by the "orang putih" University again. Tun is right, we are stuck in a colonial time warp.

Lets call an egg an egg...However On some other fronts (NOT PRINCE COURT!!) Petronas has done us proud and kudos to them in this areas...

I hear Prince Court pays tens of thousand ringgit a month per doctor because there are not enough patients. Been going on for 3-4 years now!!!

Business Model?? There is none...

If you think like that, i think you should also argue about the amount spent to pay salaries of the musicians at Dewan Philharmonik PETRONAS. they earn a lot... damn lot!

But what does it has to do with helping the development of Malaysian music industry? Yes, Dato Khatijah Ibrahim and a few local artist did perform there and the audience are the top VVIPs including the royal families and the Miniters. But other Malaysians can't afford the ticket. It costs like a month of my lunch meals!
