Apa banyak cakap? Jawab ini, bahlol!

I am eagerly awaiting 2010 when I can start releasing the documents on corruption involving various Ministry of Defence contracts. Meanwhile, as we celebrate New Year’s Eve tonight, get a load of what the IGP has been up to in this Statutory Declaration by a Chinese underworld figure. Hey, even the crooks are calling the IGP a crook. And there is more.

FMT : Ganti rugi RM800 juta angkara kerajaan BN – Husam

Pengerusi Hindraf saman Ramasamy, 9 lain RM100 juta

– Bernama

Jet Engines: Najib, Time For You To Be Accountable

From Malaysia Kini
By Shanker
As news continues to filter in on the stolen jet engines, I think it is high time for the prime minister to be held accountable. Never in the history of Malaysia has there been a prime minister who’s had so many controversies which follow and hog him in his early days in office.
Even Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi didn’t have as many allegations this early in their premiership.
I think it is most appropriate that Najib Abdul Razak submits himself to some form of an independent inquiry as the weight of these controversies have become too much and it would appear that even parties friendly to the Umno/BN cadre are calling for accountability and transparency at the highest level.
Wong Chun Wai in his editorial in ‘The Star’, writes, ‘The RMAF surely does not expect us to believe that…the theft, does not involve high ranking officials…There’s a perception among Malaysians that there are moves to…absolve the big-wigs of blame. Further he adds, ‘the head of some top officials should roll…’ -
It is quite clear that even Umno-friendly parties are left shaking their heads in utter disbelief. Echoing Wong’s call for ‘head of top officials to roll’ is who else but the defense minister at that time who was the topmost official?
And yet, Najib’s response to the media has been anything but satisfactory. For a prime minister who espouses, ‘Performance now’, why did it take so long for the theft to be revealed? As Wong puts it, ‘we are furious because the theft took place in 2007, an audit revealed the loss in 2008, and the public only knew about it at the end of 2009.’
I am tempted to ask Wong if his ‘fury’ is in some ways directed at Najib? If Najib fails to satisfy the credibility test, what then could we expect from a cabinet that consists mainly of a bunch of inept under-performers/election losers/leftovers of the Mahathir/Badawi era?
Najib, both you and your wife are dodging serious allegations leveled at the two of you. And yet, it appears that one controversy after another keeps coming out of the woodwork which implicates either or both of you. I felt that maybe after the latest Bala/Altantuya episode, the two of you might have had a ‘breather’.
Who would have thought that other allegations were to follow in the form of Tian Chua’s allegation regarding RM600,000 transferred illegally to Rosmah Mansor, and now these stolen jet engines?
From Altantuya to the hijacking of the Perak state assembly to the death of Teoh Beng Hock to the ‘cow head’ incident to the illegal transfer of funds to stolen jet engines, Najib’s rule and political career have thus far been marred by too many controversies. I wonder if there are more to come. If so, does this nation deserve to be put through such stress?
In any other developed nation, Najib would have had to face the full force of a public enquiry. Think Watergate or Bill Clinton, for example.
Najib, you may be in power here, but the world at large isn’t fooled. I shudder to think if these controversies are turning you into a liability at a time when Malaysia is already weighed down by poor perception at many levels.
I can’t imagine what would be playing inside the minds of foreign investors and dignitaries when they hear you give presentations. No right-thinking company would send a controversy dogged personnel to sell and secure deals – no matter how good he is.
Think Tiger Woods and some of the multimillion dollar sponsorship deals he has lost in light of his extramarital affairs. And yet, here we have a PM whose list of allegations surrounding him outnumber that of many of his counterparts in the developed world.
In other words, how to sell when your credibility is suspect?
Come clean Mr PM, if you can. I hope you are not going to continually adopt an attitude of ‘it’s frivolous’. You once said that you want power to be able to serve the people. Well, as one wise saying goes, ‘with great power comes great responsibility.’
And part of that responsibility is to be accountable to your people.

Court orders Kelantan to pay logging firm RM800m

KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government has reportedly been ordered to pay RM800 million in damages to a logging company for violating agreements made between the two parties since 45 years ago.

PAS has ruled Kelantan for 20 of those years, according to party vice-president Salahuddin Ayub, and without a “single corruption charge”.
Bernama reports that High Court is said to have ordered the biggest amount in damages to be paid in a civil case in its history.
It is understood that the decision was made by the court yesterday afternoon involving Timbermine Sdn Bhd and the state government.
The case is believed to have been filed in 2004.

SU Akhbar Nik Aziz minta Berita Harian mohon maaf

14 Muharram 1431H

Kenyataan Media : Penafian Himpunan Desak Zambry Letak Jawatan Bohong

13 Muharram 1431H

DRS. Khalil Idham Lim
Setiausaha,
Sekretariat Pakatan Rakyat, Perak.

IGP, stop foaming at the mouth!

The IGP wants the British police to detain me and to send me back to Malaysia. He believes I am in London and am living in a luxury flat in Bayswater. But why does he worry so much about me when I am sure he has other bigger problems on his hands? Well, I suppose one of the many, many reasons is this Statutory Declaration about his dirty dealings, which I revealed earlier.

STATUTORY DECLARATION
I, XXXXXXXX Police I/C No: XXXXX, a Malaysian citizen of full age and residing at XXXXX Kuala Lumpur, do hereby sincerely and truly affirm and say as follows:-
I joined Polis DiRaja Malaysia since XXXXX and am currently serving as XXXX am the aide de camp (ADC) of the Inspector of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan (IGP Musa) XXXXXX
2.              During the period that I XXXXX as ADC to IGP Musa, I observed many things that caused me to lose confidence in the leadership of IGP Musa. Many of his actions undermined the integrity and credibility of PDRM as the principal law enforcement agency entrusted with the maintenance of law and order of the country.
3.              On many occasions, I observed that the public persona displayed by IGP Musa is totally opposite to his private conduct and actions which are unknown to the public and the Government. IGP Musa’s actions constitute a betrayal of his oath of office as the country’s No. 1 Policeman which in Malay would be considered as “Pengkhianat.”
4.              I became disillusioned when Dato’ Christopher Wan, then Director CID, revealed to me that IGP Musa had directed a covert blog to be set up to make allegations of corruption against Dato’ Johari Baharom, then the Deputy Minister of Home Security. Dato’ Johari Baharom became the subject of an ACA investigation which damaged Dato’ Johari’s credibility.
5.              I am also aware of various statutory declarations made by several policemen, police informants and subjects of police actions showing linkages between IGP Musa and the underworld, specifically concerning the RR detainee, Goh Cheng Poh @ Tongku, and one shadowy figure, BK Tan.
6.              Based on my personal knowledge and involvement as the ADC to the IGP, I can confirm that the statements made by these deponents concerning IGP Musa are true and do correctly reflect the events as described by them about IGP Musa.
7.              In specific reference to the events narrated in the SDs of ASP Mior Fahim Bin Ahmad (G/13237) and ASP Hong Kin Hock (G/10990) about the manipulations of promotions, ranks and postings in the hierarchy of the PDRM involving BK Tan, these are indeed true.  I have personal knowledge and involvement in that I was asked, as ADC, to compile and co-ordinate such posting orders based on the drafts and proposals made by BK Tan. A copy of this draft which was subsequently implemented as police posting orders is marked herewith as Attachment “A”.
8.              Officers were transferred to achieve certain objectives. In some cases, there were entrapments that made certain officers appear guilty of wrongdoings. In others, allegations were made against certain officers that resulted in them being given either 24 hour transfer orders or short notice transfers. This gave the impression that IGP Musa was eradicating corruption and abuses within PDRM, whereas in most cases that was furthest from the truth.
9.              The credibility of these officers would be demolished such that whatever information they have gathered about IGP Musa would be discredited. These officers would suffer hardships being transferred away from their family and home base. They will also get bypassed in promotions and will suffer disciplinary actions without the proper process. Consequently, less able officers climbed the ranks and the victimized officers were used as warnings against others of similar consequences. This process of “mencantas” explains the apparent lack of ability by PDRM to tackle crime, the lack of motivation and low morale within PDRM that saw crime escalating at an alarming rate during the tenure of IGP Musa.
10.           I tried to inform the higher echelons in PDRM about this matter in the hope that these superior officers could do something about the matters I have witnessed. Among those whom I had spoken to were:
a) Tan Sri Najib, former DIGP;
b) Dato’ Amir Sulaiman, Ex-Director of Admin;
c) Dato’ Kamaruddin Ali, Director of Admin;
d) Dato’ Othman Salleh, Chief of Police Negri Sembilan;
e) Dato’ Khalid, Chief of Police Selangor;
f) SAC II Lau Hong Soon.
11.           When nothing was done about my complaints, I also raised this with some people outside PDRM namely:
a) former IGP  Tun Haniff Omar;
b) Dato Johari Baharom, former Deputy Home Minister;
c) Dato’ Radzi Sheikh Ahmad;
d) Tuan Che Md Ismail of the Police Force Commission and another member of the Commission.
12.           I also informed Dato’ Ramli Yusuff, the former Director CCD, whom I knew had been IGP Musa’s superior for 6 years and who, at that time was investigating some money lending syndicate linked to IGP Musa. I believe Dato’ Ramli would have reported this information to the Deputy Home Minister within the scope of his investigations on the money lending syndicate.
13.           However, nothing much could be done when IGP Musa was given an extension of service of 2 years in July 2007 by the previous Prime Minister who was also the Home Security Minister. This served as a powerful endorsement that the Government is fully behind IGP Musa.
14.           A sense of fear also gripped many within PDRM and outside when not long after that, in October 2007 during Ramadan, the lawyer who assisted CCD in the Goh Cheng Poh @ Tongku matter (after the A-G Chambers declined to prepare affidavits for these CCD), was himself arrested in a most humiliating manner and charged in court one day before Aidilfitri.
15.           The message was clear that IGP Musa had the support of the ACA, the Attorney-General and the Prime Minister in all his actions. This fear, amongst officers in PDRM, translated into a need for self preservation after six rank and file policemen and Dato’ Ramli were charged for various offences. Not long after that, the A-G ordered the release of the said Goh Cheng Poh @ Tongku. Many in PDRM became demoralized that a criminal is released by resort to legalities whereas our own fellow brothers were charged.
16.           It is not my intention to be disloyal to IGP Musa, but I feel guilty if I am contributory to this cancer spreading within PDRM. I am a career police officer and I have pledged to serve and defend PDRM and the country.
17.           I am not unaware that I may be exposed to dangers by swearing this SD, but all that I have stated above are the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I hope that what befell the 6 policemen, including Dato’ Ramli Yusuff, who are all facing prosecution, will not happen to me. Many of these officers who were charged ended up becoming taxi drivers, security guards etc which caused great hardships to their families.
18.           Even if they are acquitted by the courts, as have recently happened to C/Insp Nordin, Cpl Wong and Dato’ Ramli, sufficient damage are already done to their careers and families. There is the added fear that the A-G Chambers will also appeal against the acquittals and drag these matters further until they are totally forgotten.
19.           I hope that I will be given protection by the Minister and the Government for making this disclosure as it is made with the hope to improve PDRM in expectation of a new leadership era under DIGP Tan Sri Ismail Omar and that there should be an end to the persecution of officers who dare to do the right thing.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provision of the Statutory Declaration Act, 1960.

What happened to this police report?

I have reasonable grounds to believe that the second Statutory Declaration dated 04.07.2008 is suspicious on the face of it. I strongly believe person and/or persons have induced, threatened and caused the production of the 04.07.2008 Statutory Declaration by unlawful conduct.

There appears to be a lot of noise in the mainstream media lately about whether I am still in Malaysia, if not then how did I get out and if I got out then where can I be, which passport did I use to get out of Malaysia and which passport did I use to get into the other country if I really did get out of Malaysia, and so on.

I think the above is just too complicating for the Malaysian police to solve. Solving the above would involve using your brain and this is certainly beyond the capabilities of the Malaysian police. As part of my community service to the Malaysian police, I am going to offer them a simpler problem to solve.

The police report below was made by Americk Sidhu, PI Bala’s lawyer, on 8 July 2008. That was about one-and-a-half years ago. I think one-and-a-half years is enough time even for the most stupid police force in the world and the Malaysian police force is certainly far from being the most stupid.

So, instead of trying to solve the problem of RPK, why not the Malaysian police and the IGP please tell us what happened to the investigation on the police report Americk made way back in July 2008.

Or did they just ignore Americk’s police report and threw it into the dustbin? The normal procedure would be they would call you to take your statement after you make a police report but Americk was never summoned in all that time. This gives an impression they are not pursuing the matter.

So what is all this talk about the MACC wanting to interview Bala but that he must first send them an official letter? Americk’s police report is more than just an official letter. It is stronger than an official letter.

Aiyah, MACC and PDRM very hau siau one lah! Full of bullshit! No need to worry about RPK. He is safe and happy. Get cracking on the very old police report below. We will give you 14 days to come out with your statement on what happened.
AMERICK SINGH SIDHU’S POLICE REPORT OF 8 JULY 2008

I, AMERICK SINGH SIDHU NRIC NO  561129-71-5251  hereby lodge the following complaint :

(1) I am practising as an Advocate and Solicitor in Malaysia.

(2) I was instructed by one Mr Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal (NRIC NO 600928-08-6235) in respect of documenting the facts and circumstances involving him in the Altantunya matter.

(3) This led to the affirmation of a Statutory Declaration by Mr. Balasubramaniam on 01.07.2008 . The affirmation of the said Statutory Declaration was done in my presence and I have personal knowledge of the facts and circumstances leading to the production and affirmation of the said Statutory Declaration dated 01.07.2008.

(4) Mr Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal held a Press Conference on the 04.07.2008. I am informed by media reports that another Statutory Declaration affirmed by Mr. Balasubramaniam and dated 04.07.2008 was made public on that day. The contents of the said 04.07.2008 Statutory Declaration suggests that the earlier Statutory Declaration dated 01.07.2008 was made ‘ under duress ‘.

(5) I acted in good faith in documenting the facts that led to the production and affirmation of the Statutory Declaration dated 01.07.2008 and I am satisfied it was made voluntarily and without any duress whatsoever.

(6) By reason of the matters stated above, I have reasonable grounds to believe that the second Statutory Declaration dated 04.07.2008 is suspicious on the face of it. The said document’s contents amount to criminal defamation of my character both personal and professional. I strongly believe person and/or persons have induced, threatened and caused the production of the 04.07.2008 Statutory Declaration by unlawful conduct.

(7) I request that an investigation be carried out to ascertain the person and or persons who unlawfully caused the said Mr Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal to state that the earlier Statutory Declaration dated 01.07.2008, which was made in my presence, was made under duress. I believe the offence of criminal conspiracy to cause criminal defamation would have been committed by this and/or these persons.

Dated this 8th day of July 2008

Catching RPK: Musa seeks British help

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian authorities have asked London police to help them track down fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said today police believed the blogger for Malaysia Today was “still in hiding in London.”
Speaking to Bernama here, he said Raja Petra should surrender because seeking his extradition would “take too long.”
In his latest posting, the blogger, popularly known by his initials RPK, once again taunts the police, saying it is beyond the mental capacity of Malaysian police to figure out how he got out of Malaysia, what passport he used and where he is.
Instead, he says, they should get cracking on a police report filed in July 2008 by Americk Siddhu, lawyer for private investigator P. Balasubramaniam.
Siddhu asked for an investigation to be carried out to “ascertain the person and or persons who unlawfully caused the said Mr Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal to state that the …  Statutory Declaration dated 01.07.2008, which was made in my presence, was made under duress. I believe the offence of criminal conspiracy to cause criminal defamation would have been committed by this and/or these persons.”
In the statutory declaration referred to, Bala alleges that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had a relationship with Altantuya Shaariibu, the Mongolian beauty who was murdered in 2006.

Najib rejects call to probe Mahathir

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has rejected a call to investigate his predecessor Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for allegedly squandering Malaysia's wealth, saying that there cannot be a royal commission for every single complaint.
“There is always this call for a royal commission. Everything, you want royal commission, but (it) is not appropriate to call for a royal commission just because somebody has written a book,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
He was responding to a call by opposition MP Lim Kit Siang to set up a royal commission of inquiry to investigate allegations that Dr Mahathir squandered billions during his tenure from 1981 to 2003.
The claims were made in a book, “Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad In Turbulent Times”, published recently by former newspaper editor Barry Wain. The book, launched in Singapore, is not yet available in Malaysia.
Dr Mahathir has said he welcomed any investigation into his tenure. But Najib disagreed.
“What is important for us is to look forward to the future. Each prime minister has made a lot of contributions, otherwise we would not be what we are today,” said Najib.
Umno MP Nur Jazlan Mohamed said “there is no responsibility for the government to jump just because of a book”.
Bar Council chairman Ragunath Kesavan said that without a defined scope of investigation, a royal commission in such a matter would merely be going on a “fishing expedition” and would serve no purpose.
The royal commission of inquiry has become the default call of the opposition whenever a scandal crops up. Under such pressure, and as public confidence in existing enforcement authorities plummets, the royal commission has become used more frequently in recent years.
The law allows a royal commission, comprising respected individuals, to be set up to look into matters of public welfare. Their findings are not binding on the government.
But the credibility of this mechanism has also come under threat after recommendations of recent commissions had been ignored by the government.
In the past 10 years, three royal commissions had been set up, and one more had been promised but yet to be convened.
A royal commission set up by Dr Mahathir in 1999 to investigate injuries suffered by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in police custody had resulted in former police chief Tan Sri Rahim Noor being charged.
But two subsequent commissions set up by then-Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi — one on the police in 2004 and one on judicial appointments in 2008 — have seen their recommendations ignored.
The commission on police reforms had recommended the establishment of an independent body to investigate police misconduct, but this has not been implemented due to resistance from the police.
Soon after that, Abdullah set up another commission to look into allegations that a prominent lawyer conspired with a senior politician and a well-connected businessman to secure a promotion for a judge.
The commission found evidence of wrongdoing, but the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) closed the case.
This year, Najib promised a royal commission to scrutinise the MACC's interrogation procedures after an opposition worker was found dead at its office. The opposition aide had earlier been questioned into the wee hours as a witness for a case. This royal commission has yet to be convened.
Unlike a court, a commission's powers are limited, and it has to rely on government institutions to enforce its recommendations. But the government has tended to shelve findings that are inconvenient.
“It all depends on the sincerity of the government. Once it decides to set one up, it should follow through. But it seems that when the heat is on, it sets up a commission to deflect the pressure for a few months, and is not serious about the findings,” said Ragunath.
“It has become a mechanism that is overused but underperforming.” — The Straits Times

Laporan pakar sahkan Teoh dibunuh

Mendiang disiasat berkenaan tuntutan RM3,000 kerana pembelian bendera sempena menyambut kemerdekaan negara

“ tanya Ahli Parlimen Kuala Langat, Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid.
Skandal F-5E terbongkar 19 Disember lalu dengan pengakuan  Menteri Pertahanan Ahmad Zahid Hamidi bahawa  sebuah enjin jet pemintas  hilang dari gudang  Pangkalan Udara Sungai Besi akhir tahun lalu.
Tiga hari kemudian satu lagi enjin pesawat  pejuang F-5E turut disahkan hilang.

Saiful kemudiannya berkali-kali meminta Husainy mengingati siapa "Shukri" berkenaan.

"Saya sedar," kata Husainy.

BERNAMA

Nik Aziz sahkan dua setiausaha berundur

Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat hari ini mengesahkan pengunduran dua pegawai peribadinya seperti diura-urakan sejak hujung minggu lalu.

Mengulas isu panas tersebut, kerana dianggap satu lagi tanda pergolakan dalaman PAS negeri, Nik Abdul Aziz menafikan wujud pemecatan dua setiausahanya.

Anak Sungai Derhaka - Gambar : Demo Penyokong PAS? Selangor..

“Perhimpunan mendesak PAS Selangor keluar Pakatan Rakyat.

FMT: Indelible ink mystery still unsolved

By Suganya Lingan
SHAH ALAM: For 21 months, Malaysians for Free and Fair Election (Mafrel) has waited for the Election Commission (SPR) to provide evidence supporting its decision against using indelible ink in the 12th General Election.
And while Mafrel waits,  the ink  has been quietly disposed of.

“It was burnt in accordance with procedures set by government regulations,”  Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong told parliament recentl.  He said  it could not be used because of  “security and legal problems.”
Mafrel president Syed Ibrahim Alhabshi said “disposed of or not, the people deserve to know the truth. They must be told  who was  responsible for the decision to retract the use of the indelible ink in the (12th) general elections in March 2008.”.
He said Marel held a press conference when SPR first announced its decision to retract the use of the ink and had demanded to know the reason behind the decision but received no answers.
“Some Mafrel members even boycotted the monitoring of general election,” he said. “Other groups of people also questioned SPR’s decision. Both SPR and the police promised to act on our queries. But nothing has come out of it.”
He said Mafrel supported the use of the ink  during general elections to prevent an “increase in the numbers of  eligible voters on polling day.”
Mafrel’s call follows a statement issued by PAS urging SPR to “come up with the truth”  following allegations that individuals had reportedly bought the ink illegally for use during GE12.  PAS accused SPR of lying and wasting RM2.4 million of public funds.

Tepuk dada, tanya selera. :)

MACC wants PI Bala to write formally

By G. Manimaran
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) is seeking a formal request from private investigator P. Balasubramaniam to enable the graft busters to probe allegations he has made about the circumstances surrounding the death of Altantuya Shaariibuu.
The missing private detective has made a series of sensational claims that Najib knew murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu and his brother Nazim and a businessman linked to the prime minister’s wife made him retract a statutory declaration on the case.
Earlier this month, Balasubramaniam (picture), who is now overseas, had said he was prepared to give a statement to MACC.
The MACC had, in a letter dated Dec 17 to the private detective's lawyer Americk Sidhu, asked Balasubramaniam to deal formally with the agency.
"The MACC have contacted me by sending a letter to my office in KL requesting that I correspond with them on a formal basis before they respond to my original offer of arranging an appointment for them to interview Bala.
"Their letter to my office was dated 17th Dec and arrived on the 21st," Americk said in an email response to The Malaysian Insider.
Balasubramaniam had expressed his intention to cooperate with MACC in an email to the agency earlier this month. On Dec 4, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin lodged a police report over Balasubramaniam's allegations and handed over a recording of an interview with the private investigator to the authorities.
After a number of blogs and news portals published the interview conducted with Balasubramaniam and his lawyers in Singapore, a number of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders had lodged reports with the MACC.
Balasubramaniam, in his original email to MACC, had listed down conditions for his questioning by the authorities, including a requirement that it be conducted either in Singapore or London.
Asked today if he thought the MACC's response was positive, Americk said:
"I am not sure whether we can consider the MACC's response as positive as all they have asked is for me to reiterate what I have stated earlier in a formal format.
"In this day and age I am not sure why the MACC consider an email not 'formal'."
Datuk Seri Najib Razak has frostily ignored Balasubramaniam’s claims that his architect brother was allegedly involved in the private investigator’s disappearance and payoff for his silence in the Altantuya murder case.
The Umno president has previously denied knowing Altantuya, who was killed in October 2006, despite claims by Bala and popularised by fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin. Najib’s close friend, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, was acquitted of charges of plotting her murder while two elite policemen are to hang for the offence. They are appealing the sentence.
In an interview with Bala carried in Raja Petra’s Malaysia-Today.net news portal, the private investigator claimed he met architect Nazim, a younger brother of Najib, last year.
Bala claimed the meeting had been arranged by a carpet businessman identified as Deepak Jaikishan, whom the investigator claimed was a close associate of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, the PM’s wife.
He also alleged that he was offered RM5 million to retract his first statutory declaration and that his family was threatened if he did not do it.
The former Special Branch policeman further claimed he was forced to sign a second pre-prepared statutory declaration which he claims to have never read and was paid RM750,000 after he disappeared.
So far, no one knows the whereabouts of the private investigator but he claimed he returned three times to Malaysia this year since fleeing in July 2008 after issuing contradictory statutory declarations. Police are seeking him although he claimed to have given them his statement in Bangkok before travelling to India.
Pakatan Rakyat has used the Altantuya case in some of its campaigns in the nine by-elections since Election 2008, winning seven in most opposition-held constituencies. The only Barisan Nasional seat it wrested effectively was the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat.

FMT : RM520 million taxes from cardholders

By Beh Kay Hieng
SHAH ALAM:  The whiff in the city’s shopping malls smack of credit cards. To the upwardly mobile graduate, credit cards are a lifestyle necessity.
To a family  the card means emergency funds and to the businessman its offers instant no-collateral loans.
These days credit cards are a way of life and survival is one seemingly endless cycle of mortages and debts.
Come Jan 1, 2010, these “survivors” will plunge further into debt as the Government moves to rake in a few hundred million ringgit from some 11 million credit card users in the country. All in the name of diversifying their revenue base away from state oil company Petronas.
Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said that new and existing credit and charge card holders will have to pay the RM50 service tax. For a supplementary card, the charge is RM25.
According to Petaling Jaya MP Tony Pua, this should work out to RM520 million in additional tax revenue.
And this is the prelude to the soon-to-be introduced 4% good and service tax (GST). If you are planning to charge a product on your card, be prepared to pay more in 2011. Most merchants already charge a 2% fee to cover bank charges. That means the card holder will be paying 6% more on  goods purchased.
Mind you, all this is not inclusive of other charges imposed by banks.
The new 4% GST is expected to raise RM1 billion a year more than RM7.8 billion ringgit projected earnings for 2010 from the existing service tax.
“The tax will reduce the fiscal deficit and will not burden the people and businesses,” Ahmad Husni told reporters recently.
But the Consumer Association of Penang disagrees. It is against indiscriminate taxes and credit card charges.
Malaysians, it says, pay for everything.
CAP President Haji S.M Mohamed Idris believes that cards are too
accessible these days.
“It encourages consumption and there are various hidden costs involved
in the use of credit cards,” he said.
“Banks make money from the consumer’s indebtedness, and government taxes aid this process. They (banks) don’t want a customer who pays everything up front. In the end the consumers suffer,” he said.
