Anwar hopes PKFZ arrest not an eyewash

anwar3KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim (picture) hopes the arrest and prosecution of  former Port Klang Authority general manager O.C. Phang and two others is not an attempt to close the mother of scandals, in which several former cabinet ministers are implicated.
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament lobby today, he acknowledged that the arrest was a step in the right direction but said he was worried that it might be another tactic to cover up the full extent of the PKFZ scandal as in the case of  the Perwaja steel plant.
“Like in the Perwaja case, the arrest  is a small beginning, but the big sharks are yet to be caught,” he said. “Hopefully, it is not to erase the PKFZ scandal.”
Anwar said the scandal should not be closed until all the culprits were brought to book.
OC PHANG Phang (picture) and the other two were charged in the Klang Sessions Court today with criminal breach of trust.
DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said the initial arrests represented only a small piece of a larger picture of the scandal.
He said Barisan Nasional needed strong political will to settle the scandal.
” Otherwise, the government will only be scratching the surface of the scandal, no more than that,” he said
