MACC probes Kelantan state company

(The Star) - Kelantan Mentri Besar Incorporated (PMBK) chief executive officer Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman is prepared to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s investigation into the corporation.
Ariffahmi, who is Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s son-in-law, said he would cooperate fully with investigators.
On Thursday, two teams of investigators raided Ariffahmi’s office along Jalan Kuala Krai and took away several documents.
The officers were said to be looking for Ariffahmi but since he was on medical leave they quizzed PMBK’s finance manager instead.
Ariffahmi said he was informed of the raid by the finance manager on Thursday.
“I was told that the officers came into the office but they did not say what they wanted. “I was on medical leave as I had undergone a minor operation on my throat.
“I was informed that the officers took several documents including vouchers, bills of payment and other financial documents,” he said when met yesterday.
Ariffahmi said this was the second time MACC officers had raided his office.
PMBK which is under the direct control of the Mentri Besar was set up to oversee the state’s economic and social development.
It has nine active subsidiaries listed on its website. The companies are involved in agriculture, infrastructure, utilities, property development, takaful, bio-technology and education.
Ariffahmi, who is an engineer by training was first made PMBK’s chief operating officer in early 2008 before he was officially promoted to his current post about two months ago.
