Choose your Rapist

Is Malaysia becoming a Bangladesh now?
By John Doe

Reading the article here brought tears to my eyes.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/bangladesh/7073191/Rape-victim-receives-101-lashes-for-becoming-pregnant.html

The very fact that a child who was raped by a 20yr old, and she is the one who is whipped. Not one, or two strokes, but 101 strokes of the rotan is absurd!

“The girl's father was also fined and warned the family would be branded outcasts from their village if he did not pay.” How does this compare with Malaysia?

Let me count the ways ...

Lim Guan Eng is a Malaysian opposition politician who spoke out against the rape of a schoolgirl by a government minister. For speaking out Lim Guan Eng was sentenced to three years imprisonment, the schoolgirl to three years 'protective custody', the minister has so far not been charged. [The Choice, Radio 4, BBC, May 1998]

And what was the case?
Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik was Chief Minister of the State of Malacca. He raped a 15-year old schoolgirl. Because of the rape accusation and pending corruption charges he was forced to resign. To date, no charges have been brought against him for the rape, the corruption charges have been dropped.
The 15-year old schoolgirl was initially detained for 10 days without parental consent. She has subsequently been sentenced to 3 years 'protective custody' in a house for 'wayward girls'. At the subsequent trial of Lim Guan Eng, the girl gave evidence that she had a sexual relationship with the minister (under Malaysian Law, underage sex constitutes Statutory Rape).

So, this begins to look like the future of Malaysia. So, get ready Malaysia. There is much rape to happen. Whether it's your wallet, your wife, your daughter, it'll happen. Just queitly take your number, and wait for your turn will you? UMNO is taking its own sweet time.
And I end this with a quote from Marina Mahathir:
The lesson is clear - choose your rapist carefully ... As a woman, especially a Muslim woman, I am angry, disgusted and ashamed ... As a mother, I now have real fears for my daughter. What protection can we hope for our daughters if, in the interests of politics, a minor can so easily be sacrificed? -- Marina Mahathir
