FMT : SNAP to join Pakatan Rakyat

KUCHING: One of East Malaysia’s oldest parties, the Sarawak Nasional Party  (SNAP) , is expected to officially  join Pakatan Rakyat soon.

The party’s intention became public at a unity dinner  on Saturday when SNAP leaders sat together with state opposition leaders from Parti Keadilan Rakyat, DAP and PAS.
In welcoming the inclusion of SNAP to the dinner, PKR director of strategy  Tian Chua said the time was ripe for the people to make changes to resolve problems caused by the Barisan Nasional administration.
Reports indicate that SNAP leaders will be announcing their decision soon in prepararation for the next state elections, which many expect to be called by the end of this year.
Formed in 1961, SNAP represented the Dayak community as a  component of Barisan until it was expelled from the ruling  coalition in 2004.
SNAP contested the 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections and the 2006 state elections as an opponent of Barisan.
