Support for Nazri’s stand on Mahathir

Nazri AzizKUALA LUMPUR: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang  has come out in support of  Cabinet Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz (picture) in his criticism of  Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the former prime minister’s defence of the Biro Tata Negara (BTN) programme.
“I fully agree with Nazri that it is long overdue that patriotism was not meant only for the Malays but for all Malaysians, and Nazri could not be more right in this,” said Lim in asking why no other Barisan Nasional Cabinet  members publicly endorsing Nazri.

lim_kit_siang2Lim  (picture, right) asked if there were any “tough” Ministers in Umno, MCA, Gerakan, MIC, Sabah and Sarawak to endorse a revamp  the BTN course which promoted hatred among Malaysians since Mahathir’s premiership to divide the diverse races in the country .
“Dare Mahathir fully support a public inquiry into the BTN course,” asked Lim.
He said Mahathir’s question as to why “nobody complains about anything” during his premiership can be easily answered – Mahathir’s high handed and autocratic rule which brook no dissent in the public service.
mahathir-mohamadMahathir’s (picture, left) propensity to abuse his powers against all who crossed his path including the abuses of draconian laws like the Internal Security Act and the Official Secrets Act saw to it that nobody complained against him, Lim added.
Lim said that the recent statement by  Deputy Minister  Ahmad Maslan who BTN director and Umno Information chief,  that the course module would be “fine-tuned and not revamped” raises the question whether Nazri or Mahathir will have the final say.
” Why the silence of all Ministers from Barisan is so deafening,” he said.
Yesterday, Nazri lambasted Dr Mahathir as a bloody racist, saying: “You must be a Malaysian whether you’re a minister or not. You must walk your talk.
“Don’t just because when you were PM, you wanted everyone to support you, you’re Malaysian and the moment you’re no longer PM, that’s it, only talk about the Malays so I cannot accept his comment.
“When you read his blog it is bloody racist,” added Nazri who felt  BTN courses must be in line with the 1 Malaysia slogan of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
